About us

Built in Ireland, for the way Ireland actually travels

Half the country commutes between towns that buses serve badly and trains serve expensively. Meanwhile thousands of cars do those same journeys with three empty seats.

Our story

IrishCarpool started in 2019 with a spreadsheet and a WhatsApp group for people doing Dublin to Galway on Fridays. It grew because the problem was obvious: the seats were already there, they just weren't findable.

Today we connect drivers and passengers across nineteen towns, from Letterkenny to Tralee. We take an 8% service fee on bookings and nothing else — no membership, no listing fee, no ads.

What we believe

  • Trust is earned in public. Ratings and reviews stay on the profile, good and bad.
  • Prices should be fair and visible. You see the full cost before you pay.
  • Safety isn't a feature, it's the product. Verification and reporting are free forever.
  • Fewer cars on Irish roads is good for everyone, including the people still driving.
