Carpooling means getting in a car with someone you haven't met. That's a real thing to ask of people, so here's exactly what we do about it.
Verified drivers
Drivers can submit their driving licence and photo ID. Once checked, a verified badge appears on their profile and every trip they post.
Phone verification
Every member confirms a working Irish mobile number. It's how we reach you if something goes wrong on a trip.
Reviews you can trust
Only people who actually travelled on a booking can leave a review. Ratings aggregate onto the profile permanently.
Report anything
Every trip and profile has a report link. Reports go to our safety team and we respond within one working day.
Before you travel
- Read the driver's reviews and check their rating before you book.
- Agree a pickup point in a public, well-lit place — a bus stop, a station forecourt, a shop car park.
- Share your trip details with someone at home: the driver's name, the car, and your arrival time.
- Message through IrishCarpool so there's a record of what was agreed.
- Check the registration plate matches the car on the booking before you get in.
Cancellation policy
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. Cancel inside 24 hours and the seat price is refunded minus the service fee. If a driver cancels, you're refunded in full, every time.
